SPEAKER #2

ANNOUNCING
CHRISTOPHER THOMAS PHOTOGRAPHY

Beautiful lighting, composition, environment, emotion, feeling....these are all the things you see and feel when viewing Christopher Thomas Photography. Their imagery inspires a visual, sensual and emotive state.

Chris and Michelle come from a theatrical background and this is the basis of their training in the 'art of anticipating the moment'. They use this skill to capture portraits for a wedding day or family portraits. They also bring people skills to the table with Chris' experience in the medical field and Michelle's experience as human resources specialist with Virgin Blue.

Chris and Michelle are admired by photographers for their professionalism and desire to deliver high quality imagery right from the birth of their business in 2005.

They will talk about moving strategically from a safe full time job to being in business, the trials and tribulations encountered in the process, but how they planned and strategised the process. Their ability to communicate with each other on a business level, yet maintain the balance of working together and being married to each other (and the birth of their first baby Maddie this year) is one to be emulated

'We will have a question and answer session for attendees to fire any question under the sun, from Photoshop to advertising and everything in between.

Continuing a lifelong passion for people photography, Christopher Thomas Photography was born in 2005. Our grounding was in live performance photography (which we still to this day work in), which trained us in the art of anticipating "the moment". We realised that this skill is paramount to the successful capture of a wedding day, or a family's portrait, and wanted to share this ability and passion with our clients..you."

Chris is an award winning, accredited AIPP professional photographer and Michelle is an AIPP emerging member, with a specialisation in photographing people, whether it be on their wedding day, or in a wonderful family portrait session.

Chris and Michelle have undergone intensive training in utilising natural light, and in the ability to recognise where the best light is in any given environment. A professional portrait is not just a "picture" of a person, but rather a conglomerate of proper lighting, composition, environment, emotion, and feeling, all rolled into one image. This couple create the quintessential professional portrait photos.

A humble couple, Chris and Michelle are future leaders of the industry and will continue to kick the goals.

Shirl and Rob have asked Chris and Michelle to speak to show how planning and strategising has fast tracked their business. Learn their business strategies, creative skills and be inspired.

Australia's top photographic educators all in the same place at the same time!!!

FOUR DAYS OF CONCENTRATED LEARNING WITH SPEAKERS AS THEY TEACH THEIR TECHNIQUES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING AND SELLING.

FROM INEXPERIENCED, NEW PHOTOGRAPHERS TO MASTERS OF THE CRAFT, THESE WORKSHOPS ARE FOR ALL WHO WANT TO TAKE THEIR IMAGES TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND BEYOND.

Wedding and portrait photographers today have to be business people, marketers, PR professionals, bookkeepers, market analysts, innovators, computer experts and of course photographic artists. We have to always update our information and education to stay on top of new products and demands as well as stay in business. We can expect a lifetime of learning to be ahead of us. To own or use a camera does not make a professional photographer.

August Exposure has been created to help wedding and portrait photographers gain experience and lessons from other photographers at all levels of the industry. What better way is there to learn? The speakers have been in business for two years, ten years or more years than they want to count.

The experienced photographers can share their mistakes so you don’t repeat them and their success’s, so you can repeat them. A photographer with ten years experience has come through the hard years and is ready for the next cycle and set of goals. This may be to work smarter, not harder or it could be that they wish to put more effort into growing the business now they have systems in place. A photographer with two years experience is going through a steep learning curve and trying to stay financially viable. This is the hardest stage and is when many photographers go broke or give up. This is not the time to give up, this is the time to look at your business and improve it.

Your photography expertise is part of the business growth. What is your style or do you even have a style? What is your market strength? Should you change what you are doing and if so how? Do you wish to win awards? How can you differentiate from the rest of the photographers? What will our market be looking for in the next few years? What are we going through in the current economic climate?

You are not alone out there as you go through these challenges. We will help you with your portrait creativity and business.

Everyone stands on the shoulders of giants some time in their careers. The speakers at August Exposure have all done this and now they want to pass it on. You will leave the seminars with ideas to move you through the next level of your photography.

The seminar covers photography, marketing and business.

The photography business is a dynamic beast, constantly changing and challenging, so the experienced photographer who stays ahead of the challenges will want to be at this seminar. You can email Rob or myself at the August Exposure address for any queries. Can't wait to see you in person.

ANSWERS TO A FEW FAQ's:
You do not choose between speakers. Each speaker will be featured exclusively and everyone will hear each speaker. ie. All speakers will be in the ballroom and they will speak one at a time.
